SIMULBLOG FOR SONICS V. CAVS

FINAL SCORE CAVS 112 SONICS 85

The Clips v. Wiz game on the League Pass is great. SO was Philly putting it to Dallas.

Cavs 78 Sonics 60 with 2:46 left in the 3rd Quarter
Honestly I am pretty mystified on what has happened here. I am somewhat out of explanations
The Lewis injury is significant in regards to why they can’t score.
The lack of energy is hard to understand other than the back to back.
LeBron is incredible. I can’t wait to see him in person on Dec 4th.

Cavs 65 Sonics 43 end of 1st half
The Cavs ran the fast break early getting 4 of their first 6 field goals on fastbreaks.
Then they went to the rack all night.
Seattle can’t handle LeBron and he is slicing the middle of the defense.
Again the offense is out of whack. This is more of guys just not making shots. The Cavs are not a good defensive team and the Sups are missing good lucks.

Cavs 57 Sonics 39 with 2:47 left in the 2nd Quarter
Oh my this is not good.
LeBron is unguardable
Luke is 1 for 5. Vlady is 0 for 6.
What is jumping out to me is the Sonics are running their offense and the ball swings around to Luke or Wilkins for 3 and they are good looks. However, I don’t think it is going in whenever those guys shoot. They are not good shooters and so the shot goes up and misses and another possession goes for not.
Reggie Evans and Danny Fortson were playing together. Now that is searching.

Cavs 43 Sonics 30 with 8:22 left in the 2nd quarter.
Sonics have been outscored by 10 with Ray Allen on the bench.
Without Lewis and Allen there is no flow and no offense
Flip is what I call a 50/50 player. 50% of this plays are great, but 50% are disasters and he has been 50/50 so far tonight.
The Cavs are unabashed about going to the rim
Rebounding is Cavs 17 to 4 -- We told you coming in the Cavs were getting an amazing 79% of their defensive rebounds.
Cavs are shooting 62%

Cavs 34 Sonics 26 end of 1st Quarter
+/- for Flip is an issue again. Flip entered with the Sonics tied and by the end of the quarter the Sonics were down 8
This is the first time early in game that the Sonics have really struggled defensively.
So much talk about Weiss and his rotations, but the rotations will never solidify if the guys don’t start owning the positions

Cavs 25 Sonics 22 with 1:47 left in the 1st Quarter
No defense from either side tonight
The Cavs are attacking the rim. WIthout any 7 footer the Sonics defense is not imposing and the Cavs are going right to the basket.
Flip replaced Luke tonight as the point guard

RASHARD LEWIS INJURED
Rashard Lewis left the game holding his left shoulder.
He ran into Potapenko and grabbed his arm.
Lewis had his left shoulder sublux in April 2002 during the playoffs.
He also had an incident in December 2003.
Each time the shoulder subluxs it becomes more likely to sublux again.

STORYLINES
1) Vitaly starting at center
2) Vlady's reaction
3) Flip back in the rotation
4) Cavs terrible defense

Someday Rashard is really gonna mess up his shoulder and be out for a long time. He should have had surgery a couple years ago when this all started.

Did flip start?? or just replace luke??

Once again Luke can't guard his man. Eric Snow just beat him on the defensive glass, dribbled around him, drew the double team, and passed off for an assist.

And Snow dribbled around Ridnour and went straight to the bucket again. This is Eric Snow!! Give me a break.

Flip didn't start. Vitaly started in place of Petro though.

Luke started

Vlade can pass??? I'm kind of impressed.

Luke is getting taken to school by Pookie Snow. That is not OK.

This would be hard to watch if LeBron was not playing.

The Sonics are just falling appart on defense. I know what bad basketball looks like. This team sucks.

Diezel said...

Sam Cassell, Marko Jaric, Mighty Mouse...now Eric Snow..is there any guard in the NBA Luke can guard???

Sonic EJ said...

Rick Brunson.

Diezel said...

20-6 in rebounding??? are u kidding me, can anyone get a board other than Reggie.....Luke can u make a 3 one of these days

Diezel said...

were supposed to be the run and gun team and we are getting beat 10-1 in fast break points...How long can we start Luke???

simon said...

Ray looks like the only legitimate NBA player on the floor right now for the Sonics. Luke, Flip, and Damien all look lost. Reggie is at least doing his job and grabbing his share of the boards.

I feel bad for Ray -- you can tell that he's trying to carry the team on his back but he's not getting ANY help.

Sonic EJ said...

I feel bad for myself and other Sonic fans! How long are we going to have to watch this crap before management makes some changes?

sssfan said...

we'll watch this crap for as long as Rashard is out...thats for sure!

Diezel said...

17-3 on the line...we need somebody in the post to try to draw a foul..

Diezel said...

If Rashard is out for a while I guess its down to who we want between Rudy Gay, or Daniel Gibson to replace Luke...or Alldrige from Texas is a possibility as well.

simon said...

As bad as it looks, it's only game four of an 82-game season. We haven't suffered through anything yet.

NBA players don't grow on trees. What changes would you make if you were management? Change for the sake of change? I don't think it's time for that just yet.

Diezel said...

we'll be lucky to beat Toronto on this trip can u say 1-5

WAS THAT SOME BLING I SAW IN ROBERT SWIFT'S EAR???? AHAHAHAHA.

i officially hate craig ehlo. he's the worst broadcaster whose comments i've ever had to suffer through.

Sonic EJ said...

Daniel Gibson works for me. I also think that Josh McRoberts kid from Duke might be the real deal.

Sonic EJ said...

Management should start by cutting Ehlo. Maybe they could dig up some Sonics player we all liked. What about Big Smooth?

Diezel said...

At least now the whiney little b***** Vlade will get a chance to start now and see what he can do, other than average 6.7 pts and 4 boards and zero assists....

sssfan said...

I like the bmx racers for the halftime show

Diezel said...

Ehlo probably is having flashbacks of Michael nutting in his grill and cant think straight to get a sentence out....

Sonic EJ said...

Has everyone got their 10-game package yet?

I think I'm going call right now and get mine.

sssfan said...

Another beer?

Diezel said...

283-dunk right???

simon said...

ahaha i agree with you on cutting ehlo. big smooth is probably too cool to go into broadcasting. it's always the slightly dorky ones who become broadcasters.

what management should have done is ponied up the dough and paid nate. nate says it wasn't about the money but it's always about the money. everyone felt so good about the sonics after last season and i don't think nate got enough credit for what he did. but it's easy to second guess everything now.

the thing i don't get yesterday was that everyone blamed the loss on our turnovers. the truth is that we're just a bad team.

i understand why we lost antonio, but we're really hurting without him. what's all this crap about luke working on improving his jump shot over the summer?

Myk said...

Well at least we can look forward to Husky Basketball, right?

***If someone told you a Seattle fan would be saying this 4 years ago what other unlikely events do you think would have happened in the world?

-- We landed on Mars?
-- Someone finally invented the flying car?
-- Robots would be roaming the earth

My how quickly things change...

Sonic EJ said...

You got it dog. I just called and they said tickets are selling out fast right now!

Better call before the end of the 3rd quarter if you want to get some.

Myk said...

I think there is way too much focus on Luke, he would be a decent #4 or #5 scorer who gives you some assists and quickness.

Instead we are basically relying on him to be a #3 scorer and I just don't think he is at that level yet...the big dissapointments should be focused on our PFs (Nick, Reggie, Vlade, Danny) all not improving their offensive game at all to provide a #3 low post presence

Myk said...

EJ,

- So what do you think is a hotter item right now:

10 Game Plans for the Sonics
Apple Cup Tickets
Nuculear Waste from Hanford

???

Sonic EJ said...

Live At The Hardwood baby!

Diezel said...

All these so called experts said during the offseason that luke was the next Nash...yeah right Vlade, Flip, luke a combined 3-18 great job guys!!!!!

Diezel said...

Can anyone on this team post up???

sssfan said...

Superbowl!

Sonic EJ said...

Poor Ray Allen. He should have signed with Clevland.

Remember Tracy McGrady in Orlando 2 years ago? This kind of looks the same.

Sonic EJ said...

Luke Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That layup was weak.

Diezel said...

I give Weiss until the all star break then we need to go for IZZO!!!!!

Diezel said...

THis is Paul Westphal part 2

Diezel said...

Ehlo...Gooden sucks!!! the sonics can make any borderline 4 look like freaking KG

Diezel said...

Hey Flip why dont u do that more often...and take it to the rack!!!!

Sonic EJ said...

Locke,

Let me help you out bro...when you give up 90 in 3 quarters you lose big every time. Rashard is not a factor with the defense.

Diezel said...

Luke and Flip are a combined 0-9 from 3 point range!!! and our starters besides Ray have a combined 11 pts... and are allowing a 54% FG shooting!!

NateRob1 said...

Trade Luke for Nate Robinson!!!!!

AK1984 said...

The Seattle Supersonics can't trade Luke Ridnour to the New York Knicks for Nate Robinson, as their salaries don't fit within the 125% + $100,000 rule in the NBA Collective Bargaining Aggrement. Besides, Robinson is not a prototypical point guard.

Instead, rather than re-sign small forward Damien Wilkins, GM Rick Sund should've offered point guard Chris Duhon a contract during the off-season for five years, $15 million. Of course, Sund is a pawn of CEO/President Wally Walker, so there was no way that Sund would be allowed to sign a defensive stud who would prove that Luke "Local White Boy" Ridnour sucks a fat [insert object].

In other news, though, I think that all of you should know that Ibrahim "Ibo" Kutluay is earning a salary of $1,760,000 this season; "Ibo" is not only a waste of money and salary cap space, but he is also more proof that both Walker and Sund are, well, idiots.
