MY VERSION OF A SONICS ROTATION

The constant grip of Sonics fans right now is that the team has no consistent rotation. I thought I would post what I would build around if I was the head coach. Obviously, this would just be a framework and their would be some flexibility. I bold faced the substitutions that Would be fixed and inflexible.

Time 1 2 3 4 5
Start Luke Allen Lewis Evans Vitaly
6:00 Vlady
4:00
Wilkins Collison

2nd Q Brun Wilkins
VladyFortson Collison
10:00

6:00 Luke
Lewis Vlady Vitaly

3rd Q Luke Allen Lewis Evans Vitaly
6:00 Vlady
4:00
Wilkins Collison

4th Q Brun
Allen Vlady Fortson Collison
8:00

5:00 Vlady

TOTAL MIN
Luke 36 Allen38 Lewis 38 Reggie 12 Vitaly 19
Brunson 12Wilkins 8 Vlady 10 Vlady 24 Collison 29

That is what I would do. Let me know how you would change it

The Seattle Supersonics pretty much needs a mild overall in regards to its roster. For the time being, however, Bob Weiss should establish a set rotation like the following:

FIRST QUARTER/THIRD QUARTER
6 Minutes
C: Johan Petro
PF: Reggie Evans
SF: Rashard Lewis
SG: Ray Allen
PG: Luke Ridnour
2 Minutes
C: Nick Collison
PF: Vladimir Radmanovic
SF: Rashard Lewis
SG: Ray Allen
PG: Luke Ridnour
4 Minutes
C: Nick Collison
PF: Vladimir Radmanovic
SF: Damien Wilkins
SG: Ray Allen
PG: Rick Brunson
SECOND QUARTER/FOURTH QUARTER
Four Minutes
C: Johan Petro
PF: Reggie Evans
SF: Damien Wilkins
SG: Ronald Murray
PG: Rick Brunson
Two Minutes
C: Johan Petro
PF: Reggie Evans
SF: Rashard Lewis
SG: Ray Allen
PG: Luke Ridnour
Six Minutes
C: Nick Collison
PF: Vladimir Radmanovic
SF: Rashard Lewis
SG: Ray Allen
PG: Luke Ridnour
DNP—COACH'S DECISION
C: Vitaly Potapenko
PF: Danny Fortson
INACTIVES
C: Mikki Moore
C: Robert Swift (NBDL)
PG: Mateen Cleaves

Come December 15th, which is when players who have signed new contracts this past off-season can be traded elsewhere, General Manager Rick Sund ought to ship off the recently re-signed center Vitaly Potapenko and the recently signed center Mikki Moore; they are each relatively untalented post players who are tied into two-year contracts that are going to put a burden upon the salary cap next season.

Sund should attempt to trade both of them to a team such as the Toronto Raptors -- especially since that Rob and Pete Babcock aren't known as the smartest front office personnel members in the NBA -- for the expiring contract of power forward Aaron Williams and second-year power forward Pape Sow.

Anyhow, I've made it very, very clear regarding my feelings about small forward Rashard Lewis, power forward Danny Fortson, and center Robert Swift; unfortunately, their craptastic play -- which, concerning Lewis, is relative to his fellow NBA All-Stars (e.g., Boston Celtic small forward Paul Pierce; Sund might have, conceivably, been able to acquire Pierce during this past off-season for the three aforementioned players . . .) -- is going to sway damn near everyone to my side of the arguement. In the end, ultimately, Fortson should've been moved when his stock was at its highest, which is a time that's far away in the past; yet, Fortson could, nevertheless, be traded for a below-average post-player with an expiring contract—like center Scot Pollard of the Indiana Pacers.

Here's my breakdown.

Allen and Lewis you can write down for 36 minutes.

Radman takes 12 at SF and 20 at PF. Evans takes 20 at PF. Collison takes 8 at PF, and 20 at Center. Fortson plays as long as he can at Center, averaging around 15 because of foul trouble, like last year. That leaves 13 minutes for Pot and Petro.

Ridnour takes 30 minutes at PG. Murray takes the remaining 10 at PG. Allen takes 8 minutes at PG when Wilkins is on the floor. That leaves 20 minutes at shooting guard for Wilkins.

So,

PG: Ridnour 30, Murray 10, Allen 8
SG: Allen 28, Wilkins 20
SF: Lewis 36, Radman 12
PF: Evans 20, Radman 20, Collison 8
C: Pot/Petro 13, Collison 20, Fortson 15

Obviously this will change nightly, but that would be my ideal minute breakdown.

The only real concern I have with Locke's rotation is putting Ridnour out there for 12 minutes straight in the first and third quarters. He might be able to do that after he gets back on track but right now I think it is too much mentality. I'd prefer not to go over 8 minutes at a time with Luke. But the overall minute distribution looks ok.

Myk,

Trade Vlade for Chris Wilcox. Who the hell is Wilcox? That is a great trade! Well thought out suggestion!!LOLOLO!!!!

I don't understand why Vlady hasnt been playing 30-32 mins a night on a consistent basis. We all know that he has a potential of becoming that 3rd option.
Weiss said that he wants vlady to step up and be that scorer. Well, in the first 3 games, he only played vlady for 15 or so minutes. For a scorer, that's just not enough. Those kinda minutes can be enough for a non scorer like Evans but scorers need mins.
