HAWKS LOSE PRE-SEASON TO COWBOYS

Funny how this sports world works, by being in San Antonio I was able to watch the Hawks pre-season game last night. Here is a quick summary

Positives

1) Bobby Engram was active in the middle of the field. This was sorely lacking from last year’s team.
2) Stevens was a part of the passing game. He still needs to get better after the catch but he was active and involved. If the passing game can cover the middle of the field they should be able to hit a few deep over the middle when defenses are forced to adjust.
3) Chuck Darby was all over the place and Marcus Tubbs stunted on a play and showed enough athleticism that he got to the quarterback.
4) 1st quarter run defense was very solid holding Julius Jones to no carry over 2 yards.

Negatives
1) 2 of the first 3 drives by the offense were turnovers
2) Penalities on the first kickoff and the first play set the tone. The Hawks were sloppy all game.
3) Dropped balls by Urban and Wallace may have sealed their fate.
4) Inability to make a play. On three occasions the Hawks had interceptions they dropped. These are the plays that you have to make.
5) Second quarter run defense was awful as Jones gashed the Hawks for three carries over 10 yards in one drive.

Even though it was Pre-season, there is no excuse for the Hawks not to be fired up for a Monday night game against the Cowboys. Espessially after last season. There should also be a revenge factor in the second homecoming of Drew Bledsoe. Last year we made him look like a Hall Of Famer. I don't know if that much has changed other than lack of suprise on our part on another lackluster season.

What else would you expect from the Seahawks?

These are exhibition games. I'm sure the Hawks will have payback for the Cowboys when they meet in the regular season.

Like Hasselbeck quoted, they didn't gameplan for Dallas.

I think the Cowboy players were more fired up for this game after getting their butts chewed out by Parcell after their lose to Arizona.

I'm not too worried at this point. The 1st unit offense/defense played well. Let's wait till we get most of the injured players back before we panic.

LOL.

Panic now, they are still the Seahawks.

Mike,
Umm it was a preseason game were you fired up for Monday Night Football? I bet 50% of the people in Seattle didn't even know there was a game last night

It was pre season who gives a crap??

It may have been preseason but it seems like all the old problems are there. Can't make a play to get off the field, can't stop the run, and turn the ball over too much. The names on the jerseys may be different but it has that same old Hawk feel.

I'm just worried about sept 11 vs Jax traveling across the country playing at 1pm et and in the like 95 degree heat against a very physical D... Henderson, Stroud, Reggie Hayward and Paul Spicer.

Yes this is preseason.... but Hutch, Walter, and the rest of the guys better get ready for the jax D.

The matchup I look most forward to though is Reggie vs. That Coug reject in Marcus Trufant... I hope Reggie doesnt do him like he did in the year we won the Northwest Championship.... or it could be a long day for the Hawks

Diezel,
Excellent point. What some people do not realize is that even if the 'Hawks get better this year they still might have a worse record because their schedule is so tough. In all honesty it might be helpful to struggle a bit let their D get one year older and go for broke in 2006 when their schedule would be much easier

It's the teams that lose preseason games who say that preseason games mean nothing.
