HUSKIES FACE THE BRUINS

This is a terrible match-up for the Huskies – see UCLA is good and the Huskies aren’t. 2 main issues here.

Defensively the Bruins passing game is a dink and dunk which is fine if you can stop the running game and there is no way the Huskies are going to slow down Maurice Drew. The Huskies have played two physical football teams and have gotten crushed on the ground on both of them. The left side of the UCLA line is enormous and they are going to blast the Dawgs.

The other issue is it is a bad match-up for the Huskies offensively. UCLA plays a very conservative defense where they leave two safeties deep but at the same time they roll up on your receivers. Therefore they are going to force Stanback to read the spaces in the defense and that is not his strength. His strength is going over the top and UCLA will not allow it.
Finally, UCLA has great linebackers and they will be able to handle the lack of the Huskies running team.

Simple game good team beats bad team by a lot

Geez man, if the Huskies just weren't retarded they would be killing the Bruins. I dont know if it is a coaching issue or a player issue but this is horrible..

Also the refs are doing a REALLY bad job on all of their ball spots..it is amazing

Seriously, can college football (especially Pac-10)officiating get any worse? That review play and the one that was reviewed in the USC vs ASU game were just completely horsesh*t...I'm even a Husky fan and I feel disgusted seeing that.

I am truly truly truly dissapointed on how poorly the team was coached today. Everyone blamed Rick N. for having undisciplined teams and supposedly Ty was supposed to change that and we played like SHIT.

This game was horrible, I was ready to make a joke wondering if Dorrell had placed a bet on UW today but this just sucks. We will not win another game this year our players just dont have any discipline.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH they need to bench Stanback if DuRoucher is capabale. This guy has great athleticism but he does not understand the game what so ever. He will be a lot like Ortege Jenkins from UofA..great talent that everyone thinks makes him a great QB yet he never leads his team to victories...

THIS GAME WAS PATHETIC PATHETIC PATHETIC..ONE OF THE WORST GAMES I HAVE SEEEN IN YEARS (and that includes all of last year) JUST F@#$$#$# HORRIBLE!

Dude everything you said was completely wrong. Except for the part about UCLA winning.

Drew - stopped
Huskies - ran all over ucla
Huskies - went over the top.

Anonymous,
That is because it was quite obvious (at least to me) that someone on the UCLA team had some money on the game or something. That is the only way to explain some of their calls. EVEN THEN the Hawks still couldn't win.

I'm just gonna call it now; Huskies will beat USC. Call me crazy I just know we'll beat 'em. (just putting it out there because when we when I'll rule all of you). LOL

Sonic EJ said...

Fine, you’re crazy.

I think the Huskies will be up 14-0 at halftime and USC will end up winning 45-14.

Biggie said...

Yo ej, your Raiders won a game that is amazing. They will win only 2 more, sorry.

Biggie said...

Sorry, on that earlier post, I meant when we win.

Sonic EJ said...

When is USC going to play a whole game?

Biggie said...

well since you can't quit games in the NCAA i would say they've been playing 'whole' games since their inception. Right???

Biggie said...

They played a whole game against us in '91 when they lost 31 - 0. They didn't play a whole game well, but they played a whole game. I loved that game, I was there and Husky stadium was rockin soo hard it was about to fall down again (that side anyways). Man I miss those days.

Any guess on what the spreadwill be for the UW/USC game? My guess is 30.

Don't be a jackass black, you know what I mean.

I know, I know. LOL

How can you guys have watched the Huskies against UCLA and think that they can even compete with USC. I am not saying that they don't have a chance to win because of their talent (although there is a huge gap there) I just dont think that UW is mentally strong enough to win these games. UCLA basically played the worst possible game and UW still lost.

I think UW has more of a chance at an upset vs Oregon this week than USC. Looks like that Apple Cup game might be a battle for 9th place!

That is why I like you black.

Myk,
Wow, we agree.

That Phantom holding call on Rankins run was bullshi*, and how can the refs deem that ball to Shackleford uncatchable when he got held on the 10 yard line.. Ty did a horrible job on clock management and I kept thinking how many more chances are we going to give them, this is the second time(Air Force) that clock management has been a issue, this falls directly on Ty, once we got a lead we got way to Conservitive for my taste.

I have to give the D big ups for stopping Drew, but then they let Marcedes Lewis go off!!!

The Huskies are going to get thier asses handed to them against Oregon. They've got a got chance to beat Oregon State at home, but the game at Autzen is going to get ugly. Besides, Oregon plays ASU this weak, not UW.

Diezel,

I think we can all agree that the refing was HORRIBLE. As you can see from my comments during the game I was calling them out even for how poorly they spoted the ball on about 20 plays.

There a series in the first half where Bruins had first and 10 on the 41. They got a holding call to go back to first and 20 on the 31 and they run three plays and on third down the guy is stopped BEHIND the 50 and the ref gives them a first down WITHOUT a measurement.

The biggest problem I see is that most of the bad calls were in UWs favor.

- There was a hold on James 1st half TD run.

- James clearly fumbled on the endzone. This wasn't a problem with the review guys either. Since the review was about the TD they were basically saying that nothing happened after the fact.

Basically everything we could have hoped for happened and we still didn't win. I know most alums didn't like Rick N (at least he seemed to win games..) but Ty's preperation and his teams mental toughness was horrible.

- Stanback calls a TO in the first half after the clock was already stopped.

- Stanback spikes the ball on 3rd down (WHAT??!?!?!?)

- With three minutes left and we are getting ready to punt from the 50 yard line we first get a procedure call AND THEN don't even run the playclock past 18 seconds.

Horrible coaching, horrible execution and I feel sorry for Carl Dorrell who probably lost a big chunk of money on the game (since he obviously was trying to lose by downing the ball at the end of the first half).

Now I read in the paper that the Huskies have taken a step forward and I think that is a horrible lie. There is nothing from this game (other than the running game maybe) that made me feel better about this team.

Lance,

- Well I guess it depends on your opinion of the UCLA game. If you think that they played a tough team to the end then there is no way you can say that Oregon will kill them because UCLA is in fact better than Oregon.

- The only reason I think they have a shot is because this is more of a rivalry game and hopefully they will execute a bit better.

Lets hope you are saying this as a concerned UW fan because if you are Duck I must say I feel sorry for you.

myk...we can finally agree on something!!! wtf was Russo thinking on that punt thats what I need to know??? My Saturday night was horrible as I shelled out dough for the RJJ/Tarver fight which was boring as heck, then after I switched to FSN and at half we were winning 10-0 I almost passed out!!! then to watch the second half I wanted to throw my TV out the window!!

I thought Ty was a West Coast Offense guy but when ur trying to milk the lead u need to be able to pound the rock and we didn't do that at all.

Sonic EJ said...

Diezel,

I hear you that RJJ fight was gay. He looked fast as sh!t but he only threw combos in like one round.(the 5th I think) One punch at a time. Done! That is what Ray is. It is sad to see such a great fighter go out like this.

Diezel,

I got to watch the game in the quiet of my own home and thought they were finally on to something. I told myself at halftime that all they needed to do was stop them in the first drive and then put up a decent first drive and the game would be ours.

Well...

The first thing happened and I was like wow maybe there is a chance and then they punted to Russo and you just KNEW he was going to F*** up. It isn't often you watch the game and you just know that he is going to fumble. This reminds me of last year watching the Hawks and the Rams for 3 Quarters and actually saying out loud:

"Wow, it looks like the Seahawks have finally figured everything out..."

From that point on watching them (or any Football for that matter) has been hell. I was at least mildly impressed with Rankin and Kenny James. I still would prefer to have DuRoucher out there at QB, that is as long as he understands that you do not ever ever ever ever ever spike the ball on third down when you are at the 38 yard line.

I will say one thing totally off the subject...Reggie Evans is an idiot. Love the quotes from the Times article today:

"I'm looking at this like, they are going to take care of the people who they feel is important," Evans said several weeks ago. "Everybody else, well, we got to take what's left. Does that make me feel good? No. But that's how it's always been with me and this team."

Umm yeah the team has always treated him like crap. I mean most teams bring in undrafted FA, sign him and start him and let him play even though he can't make a layup. How about being greatful for the fact that this NBA actually gave him a chance..geez.

Also, love this part of the article:

At the start of free agency, Evans was seeking a six-year deal similar to the $36 million contract Dan Gadzuric received from Milwaukee.

Umm if he thinks he is worth $6million a year then he might want to consider looking into an available mental institution.
