Locked On Sports: Wilcox trade a crafty move

Locked On Sports: Wilcox trade a crafty move: "Three seasons ago, the Sonics' front office pinpointed Wilcox as having potential to be the next O'Neal. Yesterday, they found the package that got the Clippers to agree to move Wilcox."

I agree that the Wilcox deal really gives the Sonics a more traditional line-up. It appears that there main focus should be on a backup PG and maybe another SG.

Do we look for these things in the draft?

Is it worth even trading for a player like Earl Watson and his four years remaining on a contract when we are out of playoff contention?

Is JJ Reddick a SG or SF in the NBA? Wouldn't he look great as a scorer off the bench to back up Ray?

No, JJ Reddick would not look good as a scorer off the bench to back up Ray.

Why not?

Trust me, we do not need to draft an un-athletic, undersized, weenie of a 2-guard with our fist top-10 draft pick in like 15 years. Don’t get me wrong, Reddick is a great college player but his transition to the pro game will be rough. You may think this is like the worst draft ever but we should trade the pick if Reddick is the best player left when the Sonics are up.

The Sonics can never have enough big men. Take the one that is the most ready to contribute immediately.

I like the idea of a veteran point guard via FA.

Well I don't disagree that Reddick may not be ready (maybe a high lotto pick is a reach), I think we would need to see what his status at the time of the draft is. I would prefer to have him over Adam Morrision though. One thing to note about Reddick he is 6'4", 190 which is only 1" shorter than Allen so I am not sure I would classify him as undersized.

However, now that we have four PF/C under the age of 24 I think that it would be a mistake of drafting another young one.

Well put myk.

Question, would you guys have rather get Wilcox for Vlade and still have your first round draft pick or have tried to spin a deal for Darko? I mean if you are going to gamble on a big man shouldn't you make it a big gamble?

Wilcox and the draft pick.

Can Derek Anderson play PG? Would he be worth a shot (he is cheap) as a back up to Luke? Remember he is basically in the same situation as Antonio Daniels was when he came to the Sonics...

Geez what was worse tonight with the Husky game?

- The lousy refs (both ways) just ruining the tempo of the game and never making consistent calls...

- The lousy announcers who were practically cheering Oregon on...
