Locked on the NFL Audio

Sports Radio 950, KJR's David Locke talked with 2-time National Champion Lofa Tatupu about draft-day jitters, playing as an undersized linebacker, growing through the USC system and other news from Seahawks training camp.

Locke,

Lofa Tatupu would be a good roving linebacker who can rush the passer at any spot and cover the backs coming out of the backfield, almost like a nickel back. If he stays healthy, I think he can be a perfect compiment to Jamie Sharper at that position.

Any interest from the Sonics with regards to Brian Grant just waived by the Lakers?

Enjoy the blog site very much even with the side ramblings by some of the bloggers.

Once again Black you are showing your ignorance.

Ken Lucas had a great year, but we got just as good of a player from the Titans: Andre Dyson. Kelly Herndon is also a good player and a perfect 3rd corner.

Oh and guess what? We got both of them for less then Ken Lucas. You don't have to overpay to win games.

Dyson while not as big as Lucas is much more fluid in coverage and won't be giving up as many huge plays down the field.

We've totally re-vamped our linebackers and have Jamie Sharper, D.D Lewis who are both really good solid football players.

Kevin Bentley and Tracey White are good for depth and Lofa and Niko are both showing good potential at MLB.

I don't understand why you have to bring race up in practically every post you write.

This defense is filled with depth at every position outside of defensive end. That once again, could be the downfall of the Seahawks. But they will still win the division, easily.

Wistrom and Fisher both HAVE to stay healthy.

This team will win between 9-12 games.

T.O. is digging his own grave.

He goes on a halftime television show to whine about a contract that HE SIGNED.

I used to be a huge fan of Owens and I thought him playing in the superbowl was incredible.

However, he's crying about his contract that he signed last year, why did he sign it? I don't understand.

And Artest, that whole sitution was unfortunate and that fan who threw the cup was a the reason why the whole thing went down.

However, he still jumped into the stands. Not to mention, just a few days before that he wanted to take a month off to promote his cd? WTF?

Now, I can understand what you're saying and I think you have a point....to a point.

But once again, you're being just as ignorant as them if you simply ask yourself what's the color of this guy behind the words or the voice.

Nobody made T.O. complain about his contract after signing it the previous year.

Nobody made Artest jump into the stands.

Those are both things that the media would've jumped on if the players were purple.

No, dude...if anything you being on the "other side" is making it impossible for YOU to see anything as they are.

For example Look at H.Ward with the Steelers, he's a hold out but I'm on his side.

Guess what, he didn't sign a long-term deal LAST year, and decide to hold out a YEAR later.

Your ignorant, and I hope one day you can see it.

If you are black, and not a white 14 year old gangsta wannabe, I really feel sorry for you.

You are a disgrace to not only your race, but humanity.

Go read a book.

Malcom X: Autobiography.

Black, really nice. Good job.

I'm glad you've read the book, now UNDERSTANDING it is the next step.

Diezel-

Sharper is an oustide linebacker, and Bentley as well.

We only had one middle linebacker and that was Niko.

That is why we drafted a Lofa, and because the coaches LOVED what they saw on film.

He basically encompasses what Ruskell wants in a football player.

So we have two young unproven players with potential in the middle, hopefully one steps up.

Also, in regards to Dyson the Titans have no money. They let alot of qualiity players leave, like Derrick Mason...so don't read to much into that.

I love Rhodes attitude, but I think Martz knows how to exploit his schemes. Evidence = 3 losses to the Rams last year.

I hope the health of our players will give Rhodes enough weapons to create a top 15 defense.

We'll see.

The offense should be top 5 easily.

This is how I break it down.

@Jax = Either way
ATL = Either way
ARI = Win
@Wash = Win
@STL = Loss
HOU = Win
DAL = Win
@ARI = Win
STL = Either way
@SF = Win
NYG = Win
@PHI = Loss
SF = Win
@Tenn = Win
INDY = Loss
@GB = Loss

So that's four losses and 3 games that could swing either way.

9-12 wins.

On the other hand, we have no idea at this point.

The NFL is unpredictable and there will be plenty of injuries.

So, to get too high on them now or too low is a mistake.

Nothing is won or lost looking at the schedule.

P.S. Did anyone just watch McNabb fire back at Owens. Wow.

Very interesting guy.

What about him?

I think Ruskell did a incredible job, except for the draft.

And I love the Chris Spencer pick, that guy is a beast.

Lofa = reach, but the Patriots wanted him badly...and that's always a good sign.

The biggest mistake was the David Greene pick when we already had Seneca.

I wanted Blackstock or Matt Roth...we just need more pass rushers.

I'm getting worried, they need to do anything they can to get Peter Boulware rushing on 3rd downs.

"How can u count Dallas, Washington,and Giants as automatic wins you don't remember Julius Jones gashing on us on monday night last year. And U remember what happened last time we went to Washington???? Hasselbeck YACKED it!!!!!! and the Giants are going to be way improved this year. I am thinking 8 wins can win the West.

I think the Rams are to us as the Niners were to the Rams in the early to late 90's DOMANATING!!!!!"

You're forgetting the obvious, there IS NOT ONE GAME on the schedule that is for sure a win or a loss right now.

All I can do is look at the schedule and ask myself who has more talent and do I think they match up well. The actual on-field result could be much different.

Dallas, was a win last year. Just the other week an official said they should've overturned the Keyshawn touchdown. And that doesn't count all the luck they got in order to win that game. The run defense will be much improved.

The Redskins game was a disgrace and Hasselbeck didn't play that bad, and it was actually Darrell Jackson who dropped a ball that hit him straight in the hands...and then fell into Smoots hands. And that doesn't count the lucky play of stripping Damien Robinson from behind when he was about to score a touchdown that would've put the game out of reach. More bad luck.

The Giants have Eli Manning. Enough said.

It was brutal, but so were the Bengals and Ravens games.

All "should" have been wins. But that's what happens sometimes.

Hey black,

are you "Rerun" from the Whst's Happening" show in the 70's? LOL

Anonymous said...

black,

I think you are not "Rerun" but Huggy Bear from Starsky and Hutch instead. LOL

Seneca Wallace dominating.

He looks like Michael Vick out there.

D.J. Hackett also impressive.

After all the reports of Urban's hard work I was hoping that would translate to production on the field.

It's going to be a close race, right now I'd have to go with:

Jackson
Engram
Pathon
JJ
Hackett
Bannister (Holmgren says he has a roster spot, special teams gunner)

Impressive first half for the Hawks.

Only downside was Andre Dyson attempting to tackle the fullback and getting ran over.

Out for the game with a neck stinger, let's hope he's alright.

If you can’t understand all the trouble around using Native Americans as mascots and symbols, try watching the goofy suburban white kid hop around at halftimes of Illinois games dressed as Chief Illiniwek. If you don’t have a look on your face like a Fear Factor contestant after being presented a maggot milkshake, then you can truly call yourself politically incorrect.
